Recording destruction at substations after shelling is important for punishing Russia - Halushchenko

Recording destruction at substations to punish Russia

The importance of the IAEA recording damage to critical substations after Russian shelling to bring the aggressor to justice.

This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko, Censor.NET reports.

He explained that Russia, by attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure, in particular substations that ensure the operation of nuclear power plants, not only violates international laws but also jeopardizes nuclear safety.

"I do not expect the Russians to stop. Unfortunately, I do not expect them to. But at least we are doing our best to record these violations. After all, the time will come when they will be held accountable for all this. That is why this recording is important, especially when we talk about the IAEA mission and experts from all over the world who are visiting the substations today," the minister explained.

He also mentioned the recent resolution of the IAEA Board of Governors, which was adopted after the Ukrainian initiative and condemns attacks on critical infrastructure. Nevertheless, the very next day after the resolution, Russia launched new attacks.

As a reminder, IAEA experts assessed the damage caused by the latest hostile attacks in November and December on energy infrastructure facilities that are critical for the delivery of nuclear power plant power to consumers and for the supply of power to nuclear power plants' own needs.
