Zelenskyy on corruption in Ukraine: we did not make money on war, if we found someone, we beat them on wrist

Zelenskyy on corruption

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will continue to fight against those who want to profit from the war.

The head of state said this in a podcast with Lex Fridman published by the Presidential Office, Censor.NET reports.

Fridman asked Zelenskyy to comment on allegations of corruption and misuse of international aid.

In response, the head of state noted that Ukraine mostly received weapons rather than money.

"Where we saw risks, we hit everyone's hands. And it's not just about Ukraine. All along the way, there are certain people or companies that want to make money from the war. But we did not make money, and if we found someone, we beat them on the wrist, and we will continue to do so," the head of state said.

Zelenskyy also commented on the information about the alleged sale of weapons.

"When someone says that Ukraine sold weapons somewhere, Russia also raised this message. We have always said that our military would have killed these people themselves without trial. We lack weapons, and someone may be selling something," the president said.

Zelenskyy noted that the spread of unfounded allegations harms Ukraine as it undermines the trust of international partners.

"People listen to certain media outlets and lose faith. And then you lose that trust and you lose help. We fight disinformation more than we fight cases. Although I would like to emphasise that there are such moments at various household levels. We catch these people and fight against it," Zelenskyy concluded.
