European Commission: Europe does not tax price increases after Russian gas transit through Ukraine is stopped

No price increases recorded in Europe after gas transit stops

After the termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, gas prices in Europe remain stable.

This was stated by the European Commission spokesperson Ana-Kaisa Itkonen, Censor.NET reports with reference to the European Parliament.

"We have not seen any price spikes in the new year," she said, and recalled that last week the EU Gas Coordination Group met and concluded that "there are no problems with the security of gas supplies to the EU in 2025."

"The fundamental markets remain stable," the European Commission added.

At the same time, the spokesperson reminded that "we are entering the coldest month of the year," and therefore the European Commission will continue to keep the situation with gas supply to member states under control, "and monitor prices in the same way."

As a reminder, at 07:00 on January 1, 2025, the transportation of Russian natural gas through Ukraine was suspended in the interests of national security.

The Cabinet of Ministers said that Ukraine had duly informed the European Commission about the termination of gas transit. European countries are prepared.
