Ukraine has duly informed European Commission of halt in gas transit. European countries are prepared - Shmyhal

Today, on January 1, 2025, at 7:00 a.m., Ukraine's gas transportation system stopped transporting Russian natural gas.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reminded about this in his telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, the issues of the gas transportation system and gas balance were discussed today at a meeting with the participation of Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, Director General of the Ukrainian GTS Operator Dmytro Lypa, and the management of Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz.
"The Minister of Energy reported that Ukraine had informed its international partners, including the European Commission, on time and in accordance with the established procedure about the completion of the agreement on gas transit from Russia. European countries have prepared for this decision," Shmyhal said.
It is also noted that the CEO of the Ukrainian GTS Operator informed that the company had prepared the infrastructure in advance to work without Russian gas and to ensure reliable supplies to Ukrainian consumers.
"We also discussed the energy balance, the state of filling gas storage facilities and security issues. There are no details here. All operational orders have been handed out. Responsible persons have been identified. First of all, I gave the task to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to household consumers," the Ukrainian Prime Minister summarized.
As a reminder, at 07:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025, the transportation of Russian natural gas through Ukraine was suspended in the interests of national security.
