US Congress officially approves Trump’s victory in presidential election

Congress confirms Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election

On Monday, January 6, the US Congress officially confirmed the victory of Republican Donald Trump in the November 2024 presidential election at a special meeting.

This was reported by CNN, Censor.NET informs.

According to the results, Republican Party representative Donald Trump received 312 votes, and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris received 226 votes.

The TV channel reported that the vote count "went smoothly," with no objections or disturbances.

It should be noted that this is a formal procedure - during it, Congress reads out the voting data from the electoral college in each of the US states.

Members of the House of Representatives or Senators can question the results in a particular state, but this usually leads to only minor procedural delays. The process continues until the winner of the election is proclaimed the future president of the United States.

Trump will be sworn in on January 20, after which he will officially be considered the 47th President of the United States. And Ohio Senator James David Vance will be vice president.
