Situation in Kurakhove is difficult, large part of town is destroyed - "Khortytsia" OSGT
As of January 7, 2025, the situation in Kurakhove is quite difficult, with a significant part of the city destroyed.
This was stated by the spokesman for the Khortytsia unit Viktor Trehubov during a telethon, Censor.NET reports citing RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, in Kurakhove, the Russians are trying to destroy even low-rise buildings in the town. As a result, there is simply no place to keep the defense. There are virtually no fortifications.
"Any house is a fortification. If it's just scorched earth, it's impossible to hold the line. The Russians have been actively using this tactic probably since the days of the Donetsk airport. And they used it in Kurakhove. That is why their operation there has been going on for a long time," Trehubov said.
According to the Khortytsia military unit, the Russians are trying to dismantle the town piece by piece. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian military manages to destroy the Russian army and strike at their bases.
"Currently, the situation in Kurakhove is quite difficult, as a large part of the town has been destroyed. Ukrainian troops are holding out in the western part, on its western outskirts, including holding the thermal power plant located in the town," he emphasized.
As a reminder, Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov said that the situation in the Kurakhove direction requires immediate decisions by the Headquarters and the General Staff. It was also reported that the Rashists announced the "complete capture" of Kurakhove. In turn, the Khortytsia unit reported fighting in the city's urban area.
