Russian army losses in the war against Ukraine in 2024 reached 429,660 people, including dead and wounded. This is almost twice as many as the 252,940 losses in 2023.

Analysts emphasize that, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, December 2024 was particularly difficult for Russia, as 48,670 losses were recorded in that month. In November 2024, 45,680 losses were recorded among Russian troops.
"December was the sixth month in a row when Russian troops lost more than in the previous month," the intelligence adds.
The average daily losses of Russian troops in December reached a record, amounting to 1,570 soldiers, which is also a new high for the entire period of the war. In particular, on December 19, 2024, the highest number of losses per day was recorded - 2,200.
"In 2024, Russian troops lost 429,660 people (killed and wounded), which is a significant increase compared to the 252,940 losses suffered in 2023, according to the report of the General Staff of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost more than 790,000 people," the statement said.
"Russia is likely to continue to suffer high losses in January 2025 due to ongoing infantry attacks on several fronts," the British Ministry of Defense said.
As a reminder, as of the morning of January 6, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated 800,010 Russian invaders since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
