Biden administration plans to announce "substantial" final aid package for Ukraine - AP

The administration of the current US President Joe Biden intends to announce a large-scale final package of military assistance to Ukraine during the visit of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to Germany on Thursday, January 9.
This is reported by the Associated Press agency with reference to two senior Pentagon officials, Censor.NET reports.
It is noted that the officials did not specify the exact amount of aid, but said that the package would be "significant," although it would not include all of the approximately $4 billion provided by Congress for Ukraine.
They said there would likely be "several billion dollars left over" that the new defense team led by Donald Trump could provide to Ukraine if it wanted to do so.
According to the AP, the Ramstein meeting is to take place in Germany on January 9, the last time Austin will be present.
He is to meet with representatives of about 50 partner countries that have supported Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion.
The Pentagon official added that the package to be announced this week will be drawn from existing stockpiles to deliver most of the promised weapons to Ukraine before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
According to one official, Biden's defense officials dealing with Ukraine have been in contact with Trump's transition team to discuss "all the issues we think are important."
