Ukraine’s defeat will cost the US $808 billion more than aid, Bloomberg

Russia's victory in the war with Ukraine will cost the United States much more than providing assistance to Ukraine.
This is stated in the report of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Censor.NET informs with reference to Bloomberg.
According to AEI estimates, if Russia succeeds in Ukraine, the United States will need to spend an additional $808 billion to deter Russia's potential aggressive actions in Europe. These costs will significantly increase the Pentagon's military budget, raising it from the planned $4.4 trillion to $5.2 trillion by 2029.
The analysis also indicates that Russia's victory will not only change the situation in Europe but will also give Russia confidence in further encroachment on NATO countries, which will require the United States to spend significantly more on defense.
"The short-term costs of helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression are far less than the long-term costs of letting Russia win," the report says.
Reportedly, US President-elect Donald Trump has left open the question of future assistance to Ukraine, saying that the US may reduce or completely stop providing aid, depending on developments.
To recap, talks between Kyiv and Moscow were planned for the first half of this year, even if Kamala Harris wins the November 2024 election.
