Russia has suffered more losses in Ukraine than in all conflicts since World War II - Austin

Lloyd Austin assesses Russia’s losses in the war against Ukraine

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine exceeded two-thirds of the total number of the Russian army before the full-scale invasion.

The head of the Pentagon said this during a press conference following the Ramstein meeting, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, Russia has lost more than 700,000 troops in Ukraine.

This is more than Moscow has suffered in all conflicts since World War II," the Pentagon chief emphasized.

Austin noted that in November 2024 alone, Russia was losing almost 1,500 of its soldiers per day.

The US Secretary of Defense noted that the Kremlin is forced to mobilize prisoners and contractors, as well as to attract troops from North Korea to compensate for such "staggering losses."

"North Korean forces have suffered more than 1,000 casualties since they joined Putin's war last December. This is another clear sign of Putin's desperation," Austin added.
