Hamas releases first three Israeli hostages under ceasefire agreement

The Hamas group handed over three Israeli hostages to the Red Cross. The hostages were released as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that came into force on January 19.

Three Israeli hostages - Romi Gonen, Dorona Steinbrecher and Emily Damari - were handed over to the Red Cross by Hamas. The Red Cross then handed the released women over to the Israeli military.
It is noted that the women were held captive by Hamas for 15 months.
Earlier it was reported that Israel officially supported the truce with the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
As a reminder, American media reported that on Wednesday, January 15, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
It was also reported earlier that on January 11, US President-elect Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Israel to seek a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages held by Hamas.
