North Korea to reinforce Russia with missiles and artillery in Kursk region - Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov

North Korea is planning to send missile and artillery reinforcements to Russia in the Kursk region.

This was announced by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, Censor.NET reports citing an interview with The War Zone.

"We do not expect to see many new ground combat troops," Budanov said.

According to him, over the past three months, the DPRK has handed over 120 M1989 Koksan self-propelled artillery systems and the same number of M-1991 multiple launch rocket systems to Russia. Another batch of these weapons is expected to arrive in the future.

The M1989 Koksan is a self-propelled artillery system with a range of up to 60 km using rocket-propelled grenades. The 240mm M-1991 MLRS, according to Budanov, is a heavy system that poses significant challenges to Ukrainian troops on the front line.

In addition to artillery, the DPRK plans to send 150 KN-23 short-range ballistic missiles to Russia in 2025, replenishing the 148 missiles already provided.

North Korean weapons and troops put an additional burden on Ukraine, forcing it to defend additional positions and spend resources. However, the effectiveness of the DPRK infantry, according to Budanov, remains low. "They look like biological robots," he commented.
