Security guarantees following Israel’s example are good proposals, but on way to NATO - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy on security guarantees

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that security guarantees following the example of Israel, when the country receives comprehensive assistance from the United States and its allies, including military assistance, are "good proposals on the way to NATO."

The head of state said this in an interview with Italian journalist Cecilia Sali for Il Foglio newspaper, Censor.NET reports.

Zelenskyy noted that Israel has financial and military support from the United States. The president also noted that the United States and other allies helped Israel shoot down missiles and drones during Iran's massive attack last fall.

In this context, Zelenskyy said that security guarantees following the example of Israel are "good proposals on the way to NATO."

"These are very good proposals. Yes, of course, it is not NATO, but it is on the way to NATO. That is, Israel receives technology, air defense, money, and is developing - this is a fact. Not only are the rockets being repelled, but there have also been strikes by other countries against their enemies. So far, not a single country has returned fire at those places in Russia from which missiles and airplanes were fired, flying at our people and killing them, even at military targets. This is a fact. We are the only ones at war," the head of state said.

The President also noted that some states were dissatisfied with the fact that "we strike back at Russia, at its energy sector, at its military targets, which was absolutely fair."

"They wanted to ban even that... So I would like to understand what these security guarantees are. I would like to see these proposals in detail," Zelenskyy said.
