Attacker who shot military TCRSS officer at gas station near Pyriatyn detained - police

Law enforcers detained a man who shot and killed a military TCRSS officer at a gas station in Pyriatyn, Poltava region while escorting conscripts to the 199th training center.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Communications Department of the Poltava Regional Police.
As noted, the attacker shot at a serviceman of the Poltava TCRCC with a rifle, seized his assault rifle, and fled the scene with an accomplice. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save the soldier's life. During the special operation, police detained the attacker.
"Around midnight on January 31, the Poltava police received information that at a gas station near the city of Pyriatyn on the Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhansky highway, an unknown man had shot a serviceman, seized his weapon, and fled the scene with an accomplice," the statement said.
An investigative team, police operatives, and forensic experts immediately arrived at the scene. During the initial investigative actions, the police found out that the military were transporting conscripts accompanied by two employees of the TCRSS. When the vehicle stopped at a gas station, an unknown man suddenly fired a shot from a rifle at a Poltava TCRSS soldier, seized his assault rifle, and fled the scene of the crime with his accomplice.
"To quickly detain the armed criminals, we immediately launched a special police operation. Within a few hours of search operations, we established the location of the attackers. With the involvement of special units of the regional police, the suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It turned out that the shooter was a resident of the Poltava region born in 1984. His accomplice was a resident of Poltava born in 1988. During an urgent search, investigators seized the weapon from the attacker. The issue of serving suspicion notices and choosing a measure of restraint against the suspects is being resolved," said Vgen Rogachev, Chief of Poltava Police.
The police investigative unit under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office initiated a pre-trial investigation into the incident under Part 1 of Article 115, Part 3 of Article 262, and Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the articles provides for seven to fifteen years in prison.
Earlier, Censor.NET reported that an TCRSS serviceman accompanying the mobilization was shot dead at a gas station in Pyriatyn. The attacker escaped.
