The European Union is closely monitoring Trump's statements about plans to impose tariffs on European goods.

"We are carefully considering these words, and we are certainly preparing our side. But it is obvious that there are no winners in trade wars. If the United States starts a trade war, the only one laughing on the sidelines will be China. We are very interconnected (with the United States - Ed.). We need America, and America needs us. Tariffs will raise prices, they are not good for jobs, they are not good for consumers either," she explained.
As reported earlier, US President Donald Trump intends to impose duties on products from the European Union.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the EU could retaliate with tariffs if Donald Trump imposes duties on products from the European Union.
