In 2025, all doctors should undergo training in psychological care - Zelenska

This year, all healthcare workers in Ukraine will undergo mandatory training in the provision of psychological health services under the WHO mhGAP program.
This was announced by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Censor.NET reports.
Previously, such assistance depended on whether a medical professional had undergone special training. Now every medical institution that has an agreement with the National Health Service is obliged to provide such services free of charge.
She recalled that last year more than 25,000 primary care doctors underwent WHO mhGAP training, which provides knowledge and clear clinical algorithms for managing mental disorders.
"Now all doctors and nurses working in healthcare facilities contracted by the National Health Service will undergo this training," she said.
"Even more doctors will be able to recognize early symptoms of such unfortunately widespread mental disorders as depression or PTSD. And services will become even more accessible to people.
This is what we are striving for in the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program "Are You OK?" - to make care for the psychological well-being of Ukrainians the basis for people, doctors, and the state," the First Lady of Ukraine added.
