Local authorities and police should search for evaders, not TCR - Ministry of Defence

Who should be looking for evaders. Defence Ministry’s response

Employees of the TCR and SS do not have the authority to search for persons evading mobilisation.

This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"A significant number of Ukrainians are convinced that only the TCRs are responsible for mobilisation. This is not the case. The Law of Ukraine ‘On Mobilisation Preparation and Mobilisation’ clearly defines all participants in the process, their tasks and areas of responsibility. Most of the tasks related to mobilisation activities are assigned to the authorities and the police. For example, if citizens liable for military service do not report to the TCR during the legal regime of martial law, local authorities and the police must ensure their delivery. They have sufficient powers to do so," he explained.

According to Havryliuk, local authorities should also carry out relevant information work in communities to inform people about the importance of defending the country.

"You understand that without mobilisation we will lose the country. No matter how many robotic systems, munitions, weapons and military equipment we have, all of it is controlled by people," the deputy minister added.

Havryliuk reminded that the information space was currently focused on the negative that was being cultivated against the employees of the TCR, and this was unacceptable.
