I do not expect ceasefire in Ukraine in near future. Putin is unwilling to negotiate - Lammy

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has said that there will be no quick cessation of hostilities in the Russian war against Ukraine, despite the fact that the US administration has promised to facilitate a quick end to the conflict.
According to Censor.NET, he said this in an interview with The Guardian.
Lammy expressed doubt that "peace talks" between Ukraine and Russia are weeks away.
"And I say this because our assessment, which I'm sure is shared by the United States, is that Putin shows absolutely no interest in negotiations and in ending this war," he emphasized.
"The reality is that the young men and women who have joined the Ukrainian army are fighting for the future of their country on the ground, and this will continue for several more months," he said.
Lemmy emphasized that Ukraine clearly realizes: "there can be no ceasefire before negotiations".
"So I do not expect a ceasefire in this war in the near future. I am very clearly aware that Putin is not showing any desire to negotiate. And so, unfortunately, I think this war of attrition will continue for a few more months," the British minister added.
