Since beginning of 2025, 17 more citizens from occupied territories and Russia have been returned to Ukraine, - Lubinets

Since the beginning of 2025, 17 Ukrainians have been evacuated from the temporarily occupied territories and Russia, including the elderly, people with limited mobility, and families with children.
This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, Censor.NET reports.
"Thanks to the coordinated work of our office, government agencies, humanitarian organizations and international partners, 17 Ukrainian citizens have been evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory since the beginning of 2025," Lubinets said.
As noted, among them are a family from the Kherson region who lost their home due to Russian shelling, as well as four women with limited mobility, who were evacuated taking into account special medical conditions.
The returnees also include an 87-year-old woman who was forcibly deported to Russia, where she was left without proper care. We also managed to evacuate a father and child who were persecuted because the mother of the family was in Russian captivity.
A 19-year-old girl who decided to continue her studies in her home country, as well as an elderly couple who could not leave on their own due to the risk of being subjected to filtration measures, returned to Ukraine.
"Ensuring safe exit is a key priority for us, as the way to the government-controlled territory is complicated and requires clear coordination and compliance with all necessary measures. Leaving the temporarily occupied territory is essential to avoid threats to the lives and health of citizens who are often subjected to persecution, pressure and restrictions by the occupation authorities," emphasized Lubinets.
He also thanked the partners for their assistance, which allowed Ukrainian citizens to return home and reunite with their families.
