4.3 million refugees from Ukraine have temporary protection in EU

As of December 31, 2024, 4.3 million people who fled Ukraine as a result of the war with Russia have temporary protection status in the EU.
Such data was released on February 10 by Eurostat, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
Among the EU countries, Germany (1,161,450 people; 27.3% of the total), Poland (991,630; 23.3%) and the Czech Republic (388,625; 9.1%) received the largest number of recipients of temporary protection status from Ukraine.
Compared to the end of November 2024, the total number of persons with temporary protection in the EU at the end of December increased by 25,590 (+0.6%). The largest absolute increase in the number of temporary protection recipients was observed in Germany (+8,830; +0.8%), Poland (+3,705; +0.4%) and the Czech Republic (+3,435; +0.9%). At the same time, their number decreased in Denmark (-1,995; -5.1%), Italy (-1,310; -0.8%) and France (-595; -1.0%).
As of December 31, more than 98.3% of temporary protection recipients in the EU were citizens of Ukraine. Almost half of the recipients were adult women (44.8%), children made up almost a third (31.9%), and adult men accounted for 23.2% of the total.
