European countries and Canada provided more aid to Ukraine than United States in 2024 - NATO

military aid from Canada

NATO countries exceeded their own goal and provided more than €50 billion in aid to Ukraine in 2024. More than half of this assistance came from Europe and Canada. The rest was provided by the United States.

This was stated by NATO spokeswoman Allison Hart, Censor.NET reports citing Voice of America.

At the NATO Washington Summit in July 2024, the Allies pledged to provide at least 40 billion euros to support Ukraine in repelling Russian aggression. Such security funding was to be provided "on the basis of proportional contributions" made "over the next year."

According to Hart, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte "has now confirmed that the Allies have exceeded this commitment, providing more than €50 billion in assistance to Ukraine in 2024." "More than half of this has come from European allies and Canada," she added, without explaining how the calculations were made.

The NATO spokeswoman's statement comes amid demands from U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration that Europe should bear more of the burden of supporting Ukraine.
