War in Ukraine could become as exhausting operation for EU as US war in Afghanistan - Orban

The EU has already spent hundreds of billions of euros to support Ukraine, and if the situation does not change, the war will become a protracted burden for European countries.
According to Censor.NET, with reference to Politico, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said this in an interview with Tucker Carlson.
"If President Donald Trump fails to find a solution, this war could easily become Afghanistan for the European Union," Orban said, comparing the situation in Ukraine to the 20-year US military operation in Afghanistan.
"An endless war, an endless conflict with no way out, which consumes energy, human lives, money, everything. It destroys the framework of normal life for the European Union... We are in serious danger," Orban said, continuing his comparison.
The Hungarian prime minister also repeated the Kremlin's narrative that Russia started the war to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. He also stated that the situation on the battlefield was in Russia's favor.
"The difficulty is how to convince the Russians to end the war while the Russians are essentially winning," Orban added.
To recap, US President Donald Trump said that before speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he first called Russian leader Vladimir Putin to find out the Kremlin's position on the possible end of the war.
