Meeting in Saudi Arabia is step to determine whether Russians are serious about peace talks - State Department

US State Department on meeting in Saudi Arabia

At the talks in Saudi Arabia on 18 February, representatives of the United States and Russia will determine what can be done to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, citing Voice of America, this was stated by US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

"This is a continuation of the initial conversation between Putin and President Trump about whether this first step is even possible, what the interests are, whether it's something that can be taken on," said a US State Department spokeswoman.

At the same time, she noted that this meeting between the US and Russian delegations should not be taken as progress in negotiations to end the war.

"I don't think people should see this as something that's about details or moving forward in the form of any kind of negotiation," Bruce added.
