Issue of approval of corps commanders will be worked out in the General Staff, - Ministry of Defence

Formation of corps in Armed Forces is being considered by General Staff

There are no delays in the approval of the corps commanders announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The process is not being slowed down.

According to Censor.NET, the Ministry of Defence said this in a comment to the publication.

"The formation and approval of corps commanders takes place in accordance with a certain procedure coordinated between the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defence of Ukraine. This is a planned process that is being implemented within the framework of the decisions taken to optimise military management. All necessary procedures are carried out properly, in accordance with the requirements of the law," they said.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defence explained that the legal component of this issue needs to be clearly defined. This is a common practice for implementing any organisational changes in the Armed Forces.

"As of today, this issue is being worked out at the General Staff in accordance with certain procedures. As soon as the documents are ready for the Minister of Defence to sign, the decision will be approved.

Therefore, any assumptions about ‘slowdowns’ or problems with the appointment of commanders are unfounded. All services are working in a coordinated manner and in accordance with the established procedures," the ministry added.

As a reminder, Chief of Defence Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the implementation of measures to transition to a corps structure in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has begun.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the plan to switch to a new organisational structure of the Armed Forces and create corps had already been approved.
