If we are talking about negotiations, we must also talk about exchange of prisoners, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that if there is a will to end the war in Ukraine, then first of all, we need to talk about prisoner exchanges.
The head of state said this during a press conference with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Censor.NET reports.
"It seems to me that today it is clear that neither side will win this war with weapons on the battlefield. Russia wanted to do so but failed, and no one believed in Ukraine, but it proved it and defended its independence. It was very difficult, at a high price, with the lives of its soldiers and people.
This suggests that there must be a transition to diplomacy, but it will lead to a just peace," he said.
At the same time, the President drew attention to the fact that "no one who is talking about negotiations today is talking about the return of prisoners."
"The situation itself speaks for itself. The war in the Middle East. No matter what happens between the parties, the first thing people always say, no matter who the enemies are, is that ordinary people should return home. Why say these unnecessary words, that people should not die, when we need to bring back thousands of people who are in captivity today.
If there is really a good will to end this war. I don't believe that Putin wants this, but if there is good will, then the exchange of prisoners is definitely the first thing to happen," Zelenskyy added.
