Ukraine calls on world community to take urgent measures due to mass executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war - Sybiha

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on the international community to take immediate action due to the confirmed increase in the number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian troops.
He announced this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
"The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights confirms the increase in the number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russians. At least 79 cases since the end of August 2024. This may be one of the largest campaigns of deliberate killing of prisoners of war in modern history. These atrocities require urgent international action," the minister said.
Sybiha emphasized that the executions of Ukrainian prisoners demonstrate the inhumanity of Russian aggression, and the world should not only express condemnation but also take concrete decisions to punish the perpetrators.
"We need new effective international legal instruments and concrete steps to bring the perpetrators to justice," Sybiha said.
Earlier it was reported that the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has recorded 79 cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war in 24 separate incidents since August 2024.
