Zelenskyy had conversation with Rutte: Strong security guarantees are priority for achieving lasting peace

Zelenskyy and Rutte discuss security guarantees for Ukraine on February 19

On Wednesday, February 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a "good and meaningful" conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The head of state announced this in his telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.

"I shared the details of my meeting with President Erdogan, during which we discussed Turkey's role in providing security guarantees. In this process, Ukraine needs a broad representation of countries: Europe, including the United Kingdom and Turkey, and the United States," he said.

In turn, Rutte informed about his meeting with General Kellogg.

"Important messages coincide with our goal to achieve a guaranteed peace, not just a temporary ceasefire. There must be confidence that Putin will not return with his war in a few months or years," the President noted.

The parties also discussed future contacts with partners and coordinated further steps.

"We cannot let Putin deceive everyone again. Before any potential negotiations, all partners must clearly understand that strong security guarantees are a priority for achieving lasting peace. Thank you, Mark, for your support and assistance," Zelenskyy summarized.
