If Ukraine joins EU and NATO tomorrow, I will no longer be needed, - Zelenskyy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy on EU and NATO membership

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would defend his country until Ukraine is accepted into the EU and NATO.

According to Censor.NET, citing Bild, he said this in an interview with journalist Sandra Meischberger.

"If Ukraine is accepted into the EU and NATO tomorrow, I will no longer be needed. But until that happens, I will defend my country," he stressed.

Commenting on the security guarantees, the Head of State said that it was about the contingent of troops.

According to him, he discussed this with Donald Trump, who supports the idea of a European contingent of troops in Ukraine.

"I told him that the Americans should be there, because otherwise we may lose unity. This is an important demonstration of strength against Putin, that all allies are working together to protect Ukraine!" the president added.
