Russia is forcing mobilised to sign contracts with Ministry of Defence. Otherwise, their chances of survival are reduced to 10%, - British intelligence

Russia has found way to force mobilised to fight

Russian military commanders are following the Kremlin's order and forcing men mobilised in 2022 to sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defence. Otherwise, they are promised to be sent to a ‘meat grinder’, where the survival rate is only 10-15%.

According to Censor.NET, this is stated in a British intelligence report.

Although the contracts signed with Russian soldiers have formal expiry dates, according to the Russian media outlet Verstka, they can be valid indefinitely, and those who refuse to sign are threatened with being sent to a ‘meat grinder’ with a survival rate of only 10-15%.

Intelligence suggests that Russia's efforts to force conscripts to sign indefinite contracts are likely partly motivated by a lack of experienced soldiers, as Russia has lost about 860,000 killed and wounded since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

This has significantly reduced the number of Russian soldiers with more than a basic level of training, British analysts say.

"Russia's leadership also almost certainly perceives such measures as reducing the potential requirement for further domestically unpopular mobilisations. After Putin's announcement of the partial mobilisation in 2022, hundreds of thousands of young and educated Russians chose to leave the country rather than participate in illegal Russian invasion. This has substantially contributed to long-term difficulties for Russia's labour market," the British Ministry of Defence said.

To recap, in January, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine's press service reported that Russia plans to recruit at least 126,000 soldiers from the ‘special forces’ to replenish the army's losses.
