Reaching truce quickly is realistic, but reaching peace is not - Budanov

Budanov believes truce is more realistic than peace

The head of the DIU of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that a truce is more realistic than peace since Russia simply needs a break in the war.

He stated this in an interview with Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.

He emphasized that a truce and peace are different things.

"These are completely different things. To quickly reach a truce, I can just express my personal opinion - in principle, it is realistic. To quickly reach peace - no," Budanov explained.

The head of the DIU of the Ministry of Defense believes that Russia needs a break.

"Because, according to their strategy, if they do not get out of this war by 2026, they will lose even a chance for world leadership. They will be left with a maximum level of regional leadership, which does not suit them at all. The price of war is too high, the financial price of war. It does not allow the country to develop, does not allow to engage in large-scale projects, etc. There is a lack of technologies, technological solutions that are absent in the Russian Federation, primarily in the development of the Arctic regions, in the extraction of gas there, etc.," he noted.

Budanov believes that ethnic, religious, and man-made problems cannot radically change the situation in Russia.

"There is no leader. If a leader appears, everything can change in one day, as happened with Prigozhin, for example. If there is no leader, no matter what problems there are, everything will be as it is. His regime is absolutely stable. There is no one there who can pose a serious threat, it simply does not exist," the head of the GUR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.
