Britain to give Ukraine £1.6bn to buy 5,000 air defence missiles -Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announces an additional £1.6 billion for air defence missiles for Ukraine, which will be manufactured in the UK.
He said this at a press conference in London following the results of the summit on Ukraine on Sunday, 2 March, The Guardian reports, Censor.NET informs .
"Today, I am announcing a new deal that allows Ukraine to use £1.6 billion of UK export finance to buy more than 5,000 air defence missiles to be manufactured in Belfast, UK, creating jobs in our brilliant defence sector," the Prime Minister said.
Starmer added that this will be "vital to protecting critical infrastructure now and strengthening Ukraine in securing peace when it comes, because we have to learn from the mistakes of the past".
Security Summit in London on 2 March
Today, 2 March 2025, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and more than 10 other European leaders in London. They will discuss the security guarantees that Europe can offer Kyiv in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.
As a reminder, the Baltic states were not invited to today's summit in central London, and are said to be "very unhappy" with this decision.
