EU leaders likely won’t agree on new financial aid to Ukraine at March 6 summit - New York Times

Brussels Summit on March 6

As Censor.NET informs, The New York Times writes about this, with reference to an anonymous senior EU diplomat.

It is noted that the meeting is to be attended by heads of state and government from the 27 member states of the European Union. They are expected to discuss how to finance an increase in European military spending, hoping to make the continent better armed to deal with Russia without such US support. They will also consider what a peace plan for Ukraine might look like and how they can support it. In addition, it is planned to discuss the defense plan of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the likely form of a peace plan for Ukraine, and how it can be supported.

According to another EU official, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to the summit, and his participation is expected. The Office of the President refused to comment on this information.

The event is to be the last in a series of quickly organized summits dedicated to defense.

Several countries outside the bloc, including Britain, Norway, and Turkey, will report on the results, EU officials say, in what The New York Times sees as a sign of Europe's growing unification.

Also remind, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, stated that Ukraine expects new strong steps from the EU to support Ukrainians, which will strengthen soldiers, increase Ukrainian defense capabilities, and scale the defense industry.
