Pistorius: Germany has assembled aid package for Ukraine worth 3 billion euros

Germany has assembled a new package of military support for Ukraine worth about 3 billion euros, and ways to quickly finance it are being considered.
This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Censor.NET reports citing Suspilne.
Pistorius noted that Germany has approved a total of 4 billion euros in payments from the budget for this year.
"We are fulfilling them continuously and reliably, I emphasize once again: if we have announced something and allocated money for it, it will be fulfilled. In addition, we have put together a package worth about 3 billion euros," Pistorius explained.
He explained that the rapid financing of this €3 billion package is now the subject of ongoing preliminary negotiations between the CDU/CSU and the SPD.
"If we are able to finance the 3 billion package, we are also planning further air defense systems, including appropriate missiles for the systems we have and have already delivered, and this is becoming increasingly important, especially given the freeze on supplies that the Americans have just imposed," the Defense Minister said.
At the same time, Germany continues to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army. According to Pistorius, Germany has already been able to equip about two battalions in the field of artillery alone. And there will also be an opportunity to increase the number if the 3 billion euro package is successfully funded.
"This will allow us to supply additional modern artillery systems, such as the Panzerhaubitze 2000 or the modern fully automated howitzer RCH 155, and of course this includes 155 caliber ammunition, of which we supplied 34,000,000 units to Ukraine last year alone," Pistorius said.
