Sybiha on Special European Council Summit: We have moved from coordination to concrete actions

Sybiha on the Special European Council Summit

The European Council summit held in Brussels on March 6 will go down in history books as a turning point for European security architecture.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Censor.NET reports.

"Yesterday in Brussels, we felt that we had moved to another stage - from consolidation and unification to concrete actions. It was an important summit of the European Council, which will probably go down in history books as a turning point for the European security architecture," he said.

Sybiha emphasized that the participation of the Ukrainian delegation headed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the summit proves that the security of Ukraine and Europe is indivisible.

According to him, all the talks were aimed at achieving a just and sustainable peace as soon as possible, with guaranteed security for Ukraine.

"The involvement of the United States plays a critical role in achieving this goal. As the President said yesterday, the Ukrainian-American work continues and we expect important results next week," he added.

Sybiha also thanked the European Council for its strong support for Ukraine. In its decision following yesterday's summit, the EU reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its readiness to provide credible security guarantees.

"The Summit also demonstrated a common position that peace talks are possible only on Ukraine's terms and with Ukraine's participation.

There can be no decisions concerning European security without Europe and Ukraine. A just and lasting peace is possible only on the basis of international law.

The EU has confirmed the sustainability of our support: in 2025, Ukraine will receive €30.6 billion, including €12.5 billion from the Ukraine Facility and €18.1 billion from the G7 ERA. The EU is also looking for opportunities to expand funding for Ukraine," the Foreign Minister said.

According to the minister, the EU also calls on member states to urgently increase arms supplies.

"Ukraine needs to be as strong as possible both before and after the war is over. The EU will make every effort to develop its own defense industry, of which Ukraine is already a part. Joint production and technology development strengthen us and the whole of Europe.

We are defending Ukraine and Europe together. I thank our partners for their solidarity and strategic vision. Europe has not just woken up. Europe is acting. And this is the main conclusion of yesterday's summit in Brussels," Sybiha summarized.
