MFA on EU sanctions against Russia’s "shadow" fleet: Negotiations on synchronization of packages are ongoing

EU sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet

The European Union is working to impose sanctions against Russia's "shadow" fleet, and negotiations are underway within the sanctions coalition to synchronize packages.

According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was reported by Kira Spyridonova, Director of the Economic Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

As for why the EU has not yet imposed sanctions against the Russian "shadow" fleet, she noted that the European Union is working on it.

"We are talking about the fact that the sanctions coalition is currently negotiating the synchronization of packages. The UK currently has the largest against the "shadow" fleet... This is also the United States. It is partly the European Union. This includes Ukraine. And I can say that we are all working to improve our cooperation in this area," the Foreign Ministry representative said.

She emphasized that the EU is actually working very hard to develop a sanctions package.

"Of course, first of all, these issues are driven by the Baltic States and Northern Europe. Because they are the first to feel all the possible consequences. For example, cable explosions in the Baltic Sea... That's why we're working here, first of all, with the states of Northern Europe, the Baltic region, and the United Kingdom to ensure that the packages are synchronized and as painful as possible for Russia," Spyridonova added.
