Macron welcomes progress in US-Ukraine talks: ball is now clearly in Russia’s court

Macron comments on talks between Ukraine and US

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the "progress" in the talks between the US and Ukrainian delegations held in Saudi Arabia on 11 March. The French leader stressed that "the ball is now clearly in Russia's court".

Macron wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

"I welcome the progress made in the discussions between the United States of America and Ukraine that took place today in Jeddah, in particular on the idea of a possible 30-day ceasefire. Now the ball is clearly in Russia's court," the French leader said.

Macron also added that "France and its partners remain committed to a lasting and durable peace, underpinned by credible security guarantees for Ukraine".

Ukraine-US talks in Saudi Arabia

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian and US teams had resumed work and a "meaningful meeting" could take place next week.

According to Fox News, on 11 March, the delegations of Ukraine and the United States will meet in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry believes that the meeting between the US and Ukraine in Riyadh is an opportunity to sign an agreement on minerals.

The Ukrainian and US teams issue a joint statement following their meeting in Saudi Arabia: The US will resume military assistance and discuss the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.
