No border breakthrough in Sumy region, but enemy continues to attack - SBGS

Russia’s storming of the border in Sumy region

Currently, Russian troops are trying to enter the territory of the Sumy region in order to surround our military, who are in the Kursk region.

This was stated on television by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"It is incorrect to say that the Russians broke through the border there (near Novenke - ed.). Of course, in an attempt to push the Defense Forces out of the Kursk region, the Russians are conducting dozens of assault operations. In order to build on their success, they are also trying to cross our border line to encircle our forces in the Kursk region," said Demchenko.

According to him, the task is to prevent the enemy from crossing our border.

"Because this is their task and this is what we are now recording in the direction of Novenke," elaborated Demchenko.

The spokesman also added that the enemy cannot use equipment in this area and is attempting to cross the border in small assault groups, which are tasked with getting as deep into our territory as possible, gaining a foothold and further expanding the combat zone.

Demchenko said that over the past day, about 20 occupiers were killed and about 15 wounded in this area.

The day before, the State Border Guard Service informed that reports of the enemy breaking through the border in the Sumy region were not true.
