Hungary refuses to block EU sanctions against Russia after talking to Rubio - Politico

Hungary has refused to veto the extension of EU sanctions against Russia after Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Politico.
As noted, Budapest initially planned to block the sanctions, citing Donald Trump's return to the White House. However, Rubio persuaded the Hungarian minister not to undermine the European Union's sanctions policy, as Trump threatened Russia with new restrictions if the Kremlin did not agree to a truce in Ukraine.
At the same time, European partners note that although there is no consensus on easing sanctions, the situation may change depending on Trump's strategy after his possible return to power.
