Ukraine congratulates Azerbaijan and Armenia on agreeing on text of peace agreement - MFA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has congratulated Azerbaijan and Armenia on agreeing on the text of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations.
This is stated in a statement by the Ministry, Censor.NET reports.
"We consider the successful completion of the negotiations as an important stage on the way to establishing a just and lasting peace in the South Caucasus," the Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry emphasized that Ukraine supports the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and would welcome the signing of this important agreement in the near future.
What preceded it?
On March 13, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijan and Armenia had finalized the text of a peace agreement that would end the decades-long conflict, which has been centered mainly around Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the country had accepted Baku's proposals on two previously uncoordinated points and, for its part, agreed on the agreement "On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
On September 19, 2023, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the launch of "anti-terrorist measures" in Nagorno-Karabakh to "restore constitutional order."
On September 20, unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh surrendered. The President of Azerbaijan said that the country had "completed all the tasks of the anti-terrorist operation" and "restored its sovereignty" in a day.
On September 30, Azerbaijan recognized the territorial integrity of Armenia.
Unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh ceased to exist on January 1, 2024.
