Zelenskyy on ZNPP: I don’t know what US and Russia are discussing, but plant cannot be Russian

Zelenskyy on ZNPP

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he did not know what exactly the United States and Russia were discussing regarding the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

He said this during a conversation with journalists, Censor.NET reports.

I am not aware of this, except that the issue was raised in a very general manner at a meeting of our teams (the US and Ukrainian delegations – ed.) in Jeddah. All aspects were discussed there: I spoke about them, and we held consultations with our team regarding key energy infrastructure facilities of our country even before the meeting of our delegations in Saudi Arabia," the Head of State said.

The President emphasized that ZNPP is a Ukrainian energy facility and cannot operate without Ukraine.

"It will not function without us. However, according to our intelligence, the Russians are eager to make it work without us. They are trying to involve the IAEA in this, but the IAEA is a serious international institution. So far, they have not let us down, and I sincerely hope that this will remain the case in the future," Zelenskyy said.

He added that Ukraine will not allow its energy facility to work for the Russian occupiers.

Earlier, the White House reported that US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would discuss the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which had previously been the subject of discussion with the Ukrainian side.
