FSB agent who adjusted Russian X-59s for attacks on Chernihiv sentenced to 15 years – SSU

FSB agent is convicted

Another FSB agent who operated in the Chernihiv region was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

It has been established that the perpetrator adjusted the aggressor's airstrikes on Ukraine’s northern region, including the use of X-59 missiles. The primary targets of the ruscists were Defense Forces' bases within the regional center and its outskirts.

To obtain the coordinates of Ukrainian military facilities, the FSB remotely recruited an employee of a local factory who was looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels. To fulfill his task, he scouted the area, covertly took photos of potential targets, and marked their geolocations on Google Maps. The collected intelligence was then transmitted via messenger to his Russian handler using a specially created FSB Telegram bot.

It is reported that the SSU military counterintelligence exposed the traitor in advance and took comprehensive measures to secure the positions of the Defense Forces and document the enemy's intelligence activities. At the final stage of the special operation, the Security Service detained the agent at his place of residence in Chernihiv.

The SSU said that during a search of his private home, they seized a mobile phone and a tablet with evidence of crimes, as well as a combat grenade and ammunition for small arms. The man was found guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • p. 2, Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • p. 2 Art. 113 (sabotage committed under martial law);
  • p. 1 Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition).
