EU should increase aid to Ukraine, then Europeans will feel more secure - Metsola

Aid to Ukraine is Europe’s investment in its own security

Europe must have a strong economy to help Ukraine and protect itself.

This was stated by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Mecola before the start of the European Council meeting, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

"70% of Europeans believe that only the European Union can protect them. So today my main message will be that we have to be stronger. Our citizens have to feel more secure. And to make them feel more secure, we have to send a very clear message to Ukraine. That we are spending money where it is needed, which means peace in Europe, and that we are not abandoning the principles that we defined three years ago," she said.

Metzola emphasized that Europe must have a strong economy to help Ukraine and protect itself. This is what the leaders will discuss today.

"Third, we have to make it easier. In the European Parliament, we have already started to consider and debate the next multi-annual budget of the EU. Our citizens need to see how our funds will be used in the coming years and what direction the European Union will take. We want to put these proposals on the table now, as the next three months will be crucial in determining this direction," added the President of the European Parliament.
