Zelenskyy on ZNPP: We did not discuss ownership issues with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that all Ukrainian nuclear power plants belong to its people.
He said this during a press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Censor.NET reports.
"All nuclear power plants belong to the people of Ukraine. These are state-owned nuclear power plants. This is not private property. ... And the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP in Enerhodar also belongs to the Ukrainian state. Everyone recognizes this. Both the IAEA and various international institutions recognize this," the President said.
He called ZNPP a dangerous plant because it is not properly maintained.
"It needs to be cooled, it needs to be maintained technically. After the dam (Kakhovka hydroelectric power station - Ed.) was blown up by the Russians, there is no normal water supply there. This is a complicated process.
This is a question that the Americans are asking us. I don't know if they have discussed it with the Russians. President Trump asked me what we thought about this station. I told him that it will not work for anyone if it is not Ukrainian. It's illegal, it can't. We cannot just dispose of this station because it is state-owned.
If the Americans are thinking about how to find a way out of this situation, if they want to take it away from the Russians and want to invest and modernize it, that's another question. This is an open question, we can talk about it. But we definitely did not discuss the issue of ownership with President Trump. Moreover, we did not discuss those messages... I have already seen them in the press. Regarding the generation in Ukraine in general. We will not discuss it. We have 15 operating power units, it all belongs to our country," the head of state added.
As a reminder, during a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump proposed to transfer Ukrainian nuclear power plants to American management.
Washington is ready to take over the management of Ukrainian nuclear power plants to end Russia's war against Ukraine, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said.
