Ukraine will not change its attitude to people in TOT who were forced to take Russian passports – Foreign Ministry

Ukrainians are forced to take Russian passports under occupation

Any papers distributed by the invaders in the occupied territories are worthless for Ukraine.

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhii Tykhyi, Censor.NET reports citing LIGA.net.

The ministry called on Ukrainian citizens under occupation to use "all opportunities" to return to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

"If they have such an opportunity, we ask them to consider leaving the occupied territories, given these genocidal policies of the Russian regime (with forced passportization and deportation of Ukrainians - Ed.)," Tykhyi said.

The spokesman also addressed such citizens: "First of all, we remember you, we are fighting for you, we know about you, we know about people who keep Ukraine in their hearts, no matter what, even under the conditions of Russian occupation."

Secondly, Tykhyi added, Ukraine calls on people under occupation to act on the basis of their own safety, and the state "perfectly understands the conditions you are in today."

For Ukraine, "any papers" issued by the occupiers are insignificant and do not change the fact that the state considers Ukrainians under occupation as its citizens, Tikhiy noted.
"Therefore, act on the basis of your own safety: if you need to take some papers, take them, for us it does not change your status, we proceed

from your safety first. But again, I emphasize that the best solution, if possible, is to leave for the territory controlled by Ukraine. This eliminates all the threats that exist (in the occupation - Ed.)," the Foreign Ministry summarized.
