Finland does not intend to send troops to Ukraine at the initial stage of the ceasefire, but it is possible within the framework of the peace process, President Alexander Stubb said.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

"I do not see any point in Finland sending troops to Ukraine to monitor the initial ceasefire," Stubb said on Wednesday at a public meeting in Rauma, according to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

At the same time, he said, "the door should be left open for troops to be sent later as part of a peace process and an internationally mandated operation."

Earlier, the UK said it could send 10,000 troops to Ukraine.

It has also been reported that French President Emmanuel Macron is considering the possibility of establishing a UN-led mission to prevent a new Russian attack on Ukraine in the event of a possible peace agreement. This is seen as an alternative to the deployment of European troops.
