Zelenskyy: Ukraine has received new version of minerals deal from US, its format has been changed

Zelenskyy spoke about the new format of the subsoil agreement with the United States

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had received a draft of a new agreement on minerals from the United States. The format of this agreement has been changed.

The head of state said this during a briefing on March 28, Ukrinform reports, Censor.NET informs.

"I would like to note that the official Ukrainian side, namely the Cabinet of Ministers and the Office of the President of Ukraine, today officially received a note or proposal from the United States. This is important. Not some other time, but today (March 28 - ed.)," the head of state said.

Zelenskyy said that the agreement "contained some things that the parties had already rejected."

"Secondly, some time ago, our Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko received this agreement in bilateral contact with Mr. Bessent (US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent - ed.). She received this document. She said it was difficult to comment on it, because it is a completely different document. There were a lot of things that were not mentioned. There were also some things that the parties had already rejected," the president said.

Zelenskyy also added that lawyers would check the agreement on minerals received from the United States.

"This agreement needs to be compared to see if it is the same agreement. I want us to get a specific review by lawyers at the highest level. Let the lawyers check all these agreements. I will accept the agreement that our side has officially received. The format has been changed. Let's study this format and talk. We have the Constitution of Ukraine," the head of state said.

Earlier, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Voice party and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada's Tax Committee, said that the United States had handed over a new draft agreement on minerals to Ukraine, which must be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada.

In his opinion, this option is disadvantageous for Ukraine.
