Russia conscripts Ukrainian citizens in occupied territories - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Russia

The Russian Federation is carrying out forced mobilization of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territories of Ukraine - the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as part of the so-called "spring call-up 2025".

This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

"The Russian "conscription" in the occupied territories grossly violates international law, in particular the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, according to which the Occupying Power is prohibited from forcing persons to serve in its armed or auxiliary forces, as well as from exerting pressure and propaganda in favor of voluntary enlistment," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry calls on the international community to increase political, diplomatic, sanctions and other types of pressure on the Kremlin regime.

"We call on international organizations, in particular the UN, OSCE and the Council of Europe, to take all necessary measures to protect the rights of enslaved Ukrainian citizens who are subjected to pressure from the occupation authorities and documentation of Russian crimes," the statement reads.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appeals to ethnic Ukrainians who are citizens of the Russian Federation in the Kuban, Starodubsk, Northern and Eastern Slobozhanshchyna within the present-day Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, and Rostov regions of the Russian Federation: "remember your ancestry and roots and do not participate in the criminal war against the homeland of your ancestors".
