EU is not negotiating to ease sanctions against Russia - Bloomberg

EU sanctions against Russia

The European Union is not yet negotiating a possible easing of sanctions against Russia.

This was stated by the EU Special Representative for Sanctions David O'Sullivan in an interview with Bloomberg, Censor.NET reports .

According to him, Washington has not yet asked the European Union for sanctions relief, which Moscow insists on as a condition for concluding a temporary ceasefire agreement.

"We have not yet discussed the issue of sanctions with the Americans," O'Sullivan said.

He emphasized that sanctions remain an important tool of pressure in any negotiations with Russia, but, in his opinion, this tool should be used carefully.

"But it should be used (this lever - ed.) wisely and slowly and only in the context of reaching a solution that will be a lasting and sustainable peace," the diplomat emphasized.
