Ex-Prosecutor General Kostin becomes Ukraine’s Ambassador to Netherlands

Andrii Kostin appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands

On Monday, April 7, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed former Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin as Ukraine's ambassador to the Netherlands and Ukraine's permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The relevant decrees No. 212/2025 and No. 213/2025 were published on the website of the President's Office, Censor.NET reports.

The two decrees appointing Kostin to the positions are dated April 7.

The documents state that Andrii Kostin became the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands and the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Earlier, the Ukrainian media reported that former Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin would be appointed as Ukraine's ambassador to the Netherlands.

Dismissal of Kostin

On 22 October 2024, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin resigned. This happened against the backdrop of investigations into the spread of information that 50 prosecutors in the Khmelnytskyi region had illegally received disability status.

On 28 October, President Zelenskyy submitted a draft resolution to the Rada to dismiss the Prosecutor General.

On 29 October, the Verkhovna Rada supports Kostin's dismissal.

On 31 October, President Zelenskyy signs a decree dismissing Andrii Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General.
