Ukrainian Armed Forces hold positions in Kursk region and advance in Belgorod region of Russia, - Cavoli

Cavoli told about holding Ukraine’s positions in Kursk region

General Christopher Cavoli, the Commander-in-Chief of the US Forces in Europe and NATO, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region of Russia is not yet complete, as Ukrainian troops are still holding territory there despite Russia's offensive. There are also advances near Belgorod.

His speech in Congress is quoted by 19FortyFive, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to control a large part of the Kursk region in Russia, despite the occupiers' attempts to push them out.

"There is a sizable force holding a sizable—diminished, but sizable—chunk of ground inside Russia’s Kursk Oblast right now. And they’re holding on very good defensive terrain south of there in Belgorod... So, we still have a back and forth going up in that area," Cavoli said.

"The Ukrainians, a couple of weeks ago, pushed a smaller counteroffensive back into Russia [in Belgorod]. So, we still have a back and forth going up in that area," he added.

According to media reports, Ukrainian troops broke through Russia's first line of defence in Belgorod region, advancing 3-4 kilometres deep. Heavy fighting continues near the village of Popovka, where drones are used for shelling.

Earlier, Cavoli said that Ukraine seemed to have overcome a certain shortage of military personnel to fight the Russian army, in particular due to an increase in the number of conscripts.
